Lockers at Kamakura Station

Kamakura Station has plenty of lockers in several locations. There are lockers outside both exits of the station, inside the JR East ticket gates, and also inside Enoshima Electric Railway’s (Enoden) ticket gates. This article will tell you where to find these lockers and also introduce the baggage storage service at the nearby Kamakura Rent-a-Cycle.

Locker Types at Kamakura Station

There are two types of locker at Kamakura Station. These are old style key lockers and more modern automatic lockers which are operated with touch screens. With key lockers you first put your baggage in the locker, close the door, pay the required number of 100 yen coins, and then turn the key. Of course you should remember to take your key with you!

The touch screens on automatic lockers have different language options. Simply choose your language and then follow the instructions on the screen. With some automatic lockers you can pay with cash but most of the automatic lockers at Kamakura Station require the use of a prepaid IC card such as SUICA or PASMO. Whether you pay with cash or a card, remember to keep your receipt!

Lockers Inside the Ticket Gates

Lockers can be found inside the JR East ticket gates on the east side of the station. If you are facing the East Exit ticket gates on the inside then you can find a bank of lockers down a passage on your left. These are automatic lockers that require a prepaid IC card for payment. Here there are two large 800-yen lockers, three small 500-yen lockers and all the rest are medium-sized 600-yen lockers.

On the west side of the station, but also inside the ticket gates, you can find more lockers by the Enoden transfer gates. These are all automatic lockers that take either cash or prepaid IC cards. On the JR side of the transfer gates you can find 10 large lockers priced at 700 yen, and more priced at 500 yen and 400 yen. On the Enoden side of the transfer gates are lockers priced at 300, 500, 600, and 800 yen. Just four of these are large-sized 800 yen lockers.

Lockers Outside the East Exit

There are two locker rooms outside the East Exit of Kamakura Station, which are located on the south side and north side of the station building. For the south side lockers turn right after exiting the East Exit, and walk along the station building towards the Kamakura Ekimae Police Box. You will find the south side locker room at the end of the station building on your right.

The south side locker room is fairly large and has a mixture of key lockers that take cash and automatic lockers that require a prepaid Suica IC card to use. All of the Suica lockers are small 500-yen lockers. Among the key lockers there are just two large lockers priced at 800 yen, and 11 medium-sized lockers priced at 600 yen. The rest are all small 500-yen lockers. If your baggage is too large for the lockers available, you may want to consider using the baggage storage service at the Kamakura Rent-a-Cycle, which is very close to this locker room.

To find the north side lockers turn left after exiting the East Exit, and walk along the station building. You will find the locker room on your left just after Mizuho Bank. This is a smaller locker room with automatic lockers that only take prepaid IC cards. However, you can use most IC cards here and not just Suica. There are nine medium-sized lockers priced at 600 yen and 15 small lockers priced at 500 yen.

The fees for storage are 400 yen for a small bag, 500 yen for a medium-sized bag and 700 yen for a large bag. You can also ask here to change your bills for coins if you need some change for the nearby locker room. Please note though that this shop can only change 1,000 yen bills for coins and not larger denominations. To find this store, turn right after exiting the East Exit, and walk along the station building towards the Kamakura Ekimae Police Box. At the end of the station building you will see a sign for the Rent-a-Cycle Store ahead of you and some stairs beside the south side locker room. Go up the stairs to reach the Rent-a-Cycle store.
